In an ever-changing world we are losing track of who we are, our past and what we believe in. We start to search, wandering lost amid the confusion. Walking, aimlessly through life.
However, if we are in fact walking through life, perhaps it’s time we walk with a purpose.
This is what iamadventures aims to do. Believing that #walkingcreatively can improve the lives of women and girls and thus the world on a larger scale.
I am a fine art graduate who has sea-sawed in and out of the corporate marketing, startup world and the art world for the last 5 years; creativity is a big part of my life. I don’t mean simply the practice of art making; but being creative and exploring creativity in a spiritual sense are parts of everything that I do.
A few years ago I had an idea, an idea that walking the Camino de Santiago, alone, would help me explore my creative self and learn more about my human potential through walking out in nature.
What did I find? The walk certainly affected me and mostly I realised that the Camino really does ‘provide’, in every sense of the word. It provides the timings, the people and the experience. When you’re on the Camino, everyone on it with you is instantly connected. You are all one doing the same thing, walking the same path, interconnected.
This is where iamadventures started and why I think it’s so special when a group of empowered and inspiring women walk this journey together.
By grasping this creative flow, plus our improved attention levels, we can start to look at problem solving, finding solutions to issues that may arise in doing so. At learning more about ourselves and the world around us. Walking creatively starts to become a tool we can use to support social change.
Even more, it’s a way to empower women and girls to be brave and curious to return to walking creatively in this world in order to bring about positive social change at large. The more women we have in the boardrooms, or at decision making levels that can be advocates of sustainability and of innovation the more balanced and fair the world will become.
After all, “goals that work for women and girls are goals that will work for the world” as the Global Goals for Sustainable Development advocates.
We are born to be curious, creative and imaginative, to explore and learn from our surroundings. It’s modern society that gives us too many conditioned environments and unspoken rules that makes us too ‘vanilla’. This is not only true in our personal lives but also in the workplace.
The responsibility we have now is not to make us more creative, but to reawaken our inner selves and remind us of the beauty and nature around us, the everyday moments that exist to inspire us. To remind us that equality and creativity are so very important in making the world a better place.
It is time that the travel industry and in fact all industries take more steps towards positive change, environmental action and equality.
So at iamadventures we walk, talk and create all over the world, to empower women and girls, grow our human potential and in turn to promote positive social change at large.
