Visit the Silver State

Nevada is using WTM to highlight the unique attractions that are proving a big draw for visitors to the region. Nevada, known as the Silver State, is home to some of the most fascinating landscapes on earth and its terrain contrasts the stark beauty of its deserts with snow-capped mountain ranges.

The founders of Burning Man, the annual gathering that takes place at Black Rock City, a temporary community erected in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert, have announced plans to keep their philosophies alive year-round with Fly Ranch.

Burning Man Project has purchased the Fly Ranch property, 3,800 acres of land located twenty-one miles north of Gerlach in Washoe County, Nevada, in order to have a year-round location in addition to its signature one-week event.

In addition, with Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone recently installing his public artwork Seven Magic Mountains out in the desert, the state is truly embracing a new movement of art within nature.

The installation, comprised of seven individual towering sculptures, is situated on the far southern end of Las Vegas Boulevard along Interstate 15, approximately 30 minutes from downtown Las Vegas.

Positioned within the Ivanpah Valley and surrounded by mountains, the piece opened to the public in May and will be on view until May 2018.

Add in a diverse calendar of events, from the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering to Virginia City’s Camel Races, and there is always something unique to draw travellers to the Silver State.
