Qatar sees the benefits of visa waiver initiative

Authorities in Qatar are making it easier for visitors enter the country thanks to a recent series of measures.

Qatar’s Ministry of Interior, Qatar Tourism Authority and Qatar Airways recently said that nationals of 80 countries are now eligible for a visa waiver, allowing them  to enter Qatar without requiring any prior visa arrangements.

Eligible travellers will be issued, free-of-charge , a multi-entry waiver at the port of entry upon presentation of a valid passport with a minimum validity of six months and a confirmed onward or return ticket.

Other recent initiatives include the launch of an e-visa platform, through which travellers of other nationalities outside of the 80 countries can apply for tourist and visitor visas with more efficiency and ease.

These measures, along with high profile international marketing and sponsorship campaigns, have resulted in a 39% increase in the number of stopover visitors during the first half of 2017, compared with the same period last year.
